Our nation has no greater responsibility than supporting our men and women in uniform — especially since we’re at war. This is a responsibility all of us in Washington share — not as Republicans or Democrats, but as Americans. And I want to thank leaders of the House and Senate for getting this bill to my office.”

The President today declared an emergency exists in the State of California and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local response efforts in the area struck by wildfires beginning on June 20, 2008, and continuing.

On Friday, the Mugabe regime held a sham election that ignored the will of the people of Zimbabwe. The international community has condemned the Mugabe regime’s ruthless campaign of politically-motivated violence and intimidation with a strong and unified voice that makes clear that yesterday’s election was in no way free and fair. Any legitimate government of Zimbabwe must represent the interests of all its citizens and the outcome of the March 29 elections.
